How to use the calculator

  1. Choose how your job ended.
  2. Enter your last monthly wage: your basic salary plus fixed allowances such as housing and transport.
  3. Enter your first and last day of work.

The calculator shows your length of service, the full award, the share you’re entitled to, and the amount due. Use Copy results to keep a record or share it with your employer.

How the award is calculated (Article 84)

  • Half a month’s wage for each of the first five years of service.
  • A full month’s wage for each year after the fifth.
  • Parts of a year count in proportion, so six months counts as half a year.

The award is based on your last wage. Under the Labor Law, the wage includes the basic salary plus allowances. Commissions, sales percentages and similar variable pay can be excluded if your contract says so (Article 86).

If you resign (Article 85)

Years of service Share of the award
Less than 2 None
2 to 5 One third
More than 5, less than 10 Two thirds
10 or more Full award

When you get the full award

  • Your employer ends the contract, except for dismissal under Article 80.
  • Your fixed-term contract ends and isn’t renewed.
  • You leave because your employer failed in their main obligations toward you, as set out in Article 81.
  • You leave because of force majeure beyond your control (Article 87).
  • You’re a female worker who ends her contract within six months of marriage or three months of giving birth (Article 87).

When there is no award

  • Dismissal under Article 80, which lists specific cases of serious misconduct.
  • Resigning with less than two years of service.
  • Ending the contract during the probation period (Article 54).

A note on the 2025 amendments

Amendments to the Labor Law in force since February 2025 added a formal definition of resignation. Some lawyers read this to mean that the reduced award in Article 85 applies only when a worker resigns from a fixed-term contract, and that ending an open-ended contract with proper notice under Article 75 shouldn’t reduce the award.

This calculator applies Article 85 to every resignation, which is still the common practice. If this affects you, check your expected award in Qiwa, or ask the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) or a labor lawyer.

Check with official sources

MHRSD publishes its own end-of-service calculator, and employees registered in Qiwa can see their expected award there. This calculator gives an estimate for private-sector employees and isn’t legal advice. Domestic workers and government employees follow different rules.

Questions people ask

How much end-of-service award do I get after 5 years?

Two and a half months' wage (half a month for each of the five years) if your employer ended the contract or it expired. If you resigned with exactly five years of service, you get one third of that.

Is the housing allowance included in the calculation?

Generally yes. The award is based on your last wage, which includes the basic salary plus allowances such as housing and transport. Commissions and sales percentages can be left out if your contract says so (Article 86).

Do I get an end-of-service award if I resign before two years?

No. Under Article 85, resigning with less than two years of service gives no award, unless one of the exceptions in Articles 81 or 87 applies.

Is unused annual leave included?

No, it's paid separately. When you leave, you're entitled to your wage for any annual leave you didn't take, on top of the end-of-service award.

Do the same rules apply to expatriates?

Yes. The end-of-service rules in the Labor Law apply to Saudi and non-Saudi private-sector employees alike.

Is anything I type sent to a server?

No. The calculation runs in your browser, and nothing you type leaves your device.
